Cheryl graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 1985 and was admitted as a Solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1986 after completing two years Articles of Clerkship at a local firm in Innisfail. Cheryl has practised exclusively in the area of Family Law for over 20 years and in an endeavour to further her keen interest and enhance her skills became an Accredited Family Law Specialist in 1999. Cheryl has always recognised the importance of mediation especially in family law matters as a way of assisting separated families. Since the mid- nineties she has undertaken a series of courses in mediation culminating in her achieving recognition with the Attorney General's Department in 2009 and is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner and previously Queensland Law Society Approved Mediator and regularly mediates for the Legal Aid Office, Queensland and privately. Combining these skills, Cheryl has been a member of a number of panels of professionals providing information to separated parents. Recently Cheryl was appointed to the panel of Legal Aid Queensland's Independent Children's Lawyers.
